Sabato in Milano

Mixed seafood at Woodstocks
Today has been glorious! Wandered down Via Savona and found a trendy bar across from a public garden and book store. I also found Cinema Mexico or "The Rocky Horror House" which plays films in their original language every thursday...jus in case I get the craving for some English:) Later Larra and I went to Via Paperinale to check out the market. Tons of clothes(mostly cheap stuff) and SO much fresh food. Fish, fruit, veggies, and LOTS of cheese. The olives were to die for. We're definitely going back next Saturday. The food is so much fresher and cheaper than it is in the supermarket. After that we took our first ride on the underground tram to Porta Genova and enjoyed a glorious meal at Woodstocks. The waiter tied a bib on me that looked like a tux after he handed me my mixed seafood(clams, mussels, squid, and shrimp covered in a tomato sauce)...oh em gee SO good. And the wine! Of course we finished our meal with an espresso and headed over to the gelateria for THE best gelato I've ever had...acai and soya mmmm...full and happy we headed over to a flea market. Next to the Navigli Grande, there was lots of jewelry, vintage clothing, sunglasses, and nick nacks. Added a silver ring from india, vintage valentino way-farers, and round gaga-esque glasses to my collection:) a job well done. It was so fun watching seeing all the "punks" in leather, black, and decorated in piercings...a nice change from the usual clean cut Italians with their labels and collars. Found the edge in Navigli...

Day 1: Milano

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Il Quadrilater D'oro
Il Duomo
Luca drove us to the city center to see the Duomo and wander amongst the cobblestone streets, gelaterias, cafes, and most importantly...all the beautiful stores. Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino, Miu Miu, Versace, Giorgio Armani, Prada, Chanel...it was all there tucked away in the streets of Milan. The Duomo was breathtaking and the panini was also delightful! Everyone is so chic and sharp...I can definitely stand living here for a here. Luca even got us Lonely Planet guide books to get a better grasp of the city. The humidity gets a lil sticky and it stays hot at night but nothing like a bit of vino bianco to cool you off. Larra and I got cell phones and napped before taking the bus to the supermarket where more glorious surprises greeted us. Aisles of antipasti, prosciutto, and pasta graced the food wonderland and we probably spent too much time deciding what to make for dinner. Some insalate di pomodoro, pollo, patate, e vino completed our meal and then we sat down to watch Before Sunrise. Giving ourselves a little treat for conquering la citta:)

Made it to Milan!

The first dinner in our new apartment!
Trekking through LAX
Well after a ridiculous amount of travelling, Larra and I finally arrived in Milan at 8pm here or 11am in the US. Can't believe we're a whole nine hours ahead! Our flight was supposed to leave LAX at 4:30 pm on Tuesday but got delayed 3 hours because the aircraft had mechanical problems so they had to trade out the planes. Because of the delay, we missed our connecting flight from London to Milan so we had to first fly to Munich and then to Milan. Our roommate Luca picked us up from Malpensa and drove us to our apartment which is gorgeous! It's new and really big with a terrace overlooking downtown Milan. He cooked us dinner and we SLEPT finally after being awake for over 30 hours. Now we're just unpacking and getting settled so we can explore our new surroundings! Can't wait to see the city:)

Nina Ricci dazzles

survey says?
The boots say it all

Now the Fashion house has a new designer and the glorious boots aren't the highlight...I love the silk and feminine touches to the throwback of the Fall 2010 RTW. With pieces reminiscent of a 40's siren mixed with a little edge, Peter Copping brings us more clothes to drool over after taking Olivier Theysken's place as head designer...

Gasp...

Words cannot describe the fabulosity of these Louboutins...

From one city to the next.

San Francisco has become my home. The city is filled with inspiration, amazing people, food, nightlife, and beauty. It filled me with a drive tackle the fashion industry and opened another door...a door to Milan to travel all over Europe studying fashion and learning from new people, cultures, and views. I have to say goodbye to my beach house in the Sunset with my four girls and say hello to my 7th story flat in the heart of Milan.
